APPLICATION GUIDE FOR BEST RESULTS
SURFACE PREPARATION
New concrete in Sydney projects must cure for at least 28 days. Ensure the surface is thoroughly dry (less than 3% moisture). The concrete must be sound with a compressive strength of at least 25MPa and tensile strength of 1.5N/mm². Repair any non-structural cracks or holes. Clean the surface thoroughly, removing loose material, dirt, oil, grease, old coatings, and any contaminants. Mechanical grinding or abrasive blasting is recommended for new and old concrete. Ensure all traces of oil are removed. Protect the substrate from rising moisture. Consider a test area if unsure.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE & EQUIPMENT
Use PEKA Multitex Rollers. Apply Stellmann Aqualine PU PRO in two coats. The first, diluted coat acts as a primer; the second is the finish coat. A third coat is optional for high-traffic Sydney locations. Add Stellmann Non-Slip Particles only to the finish coat.
DILUTION RATES
Dilute first “prime” coat with 20% of water (mixture of part A and Part B) for new applications. Dilute second finish coat with 0-10% of water. For renovations (previously applied Stellmann Aqualine PU PRO projects) dilute first “primer” layer with 0-10% of water. Dilute the second layer with 0-10% of water.
MIXING INSTRUCTIONS (5:1 RATIO BY WEIGHT)
Multiply the weight of Part A by 0.2 to determine the required weight of Part B.
- Stir Part A with a mechanical mixer at low speed for 5 minutes before use.
- For smaller quantities, use a clean mixing cup and a precision electronic scale for accurate mixing ratios.
- Mix Part A and B with a clean mechanical mixer for at least 5 minutes.
- Do not use volume-based mixing cups as product density differs from water. Incorrect mixing voids warranty.
- Refer to the detailed installation manual for comprehensive instructions.
APPLICATION TIPS
Avoid applying thick layers (wet film thickness above ~150μm) to prevent CO2 bubbles.
Prime Coat: Mix components at a 5:1 ratio and dilute with water as per instructions. Apply evenly to the surface. Allow to dry (within 24 hours) before the finish coat.
Finish Coat: Mix components at a 5:1 ratio. Add Stellmann Non-Slip particles (2-3% by weight) and dilute with water as instructed. Apply evenly in straight lines, finishing in the same direction. Avoid rolling back into curing areas to prevent uneven non-slip particle distribution. Do not exceed 3% non-slip particles by weight.
- Use a mixing bucket/cup and an electronic precision scale.
- Thoroughly stir Part A before mixing with Part B using separate, clean mixers.
- Mix only the amount needed immediately. Securely close lids on unused product.
- Practical coverage rates may vary based on application method, conditions, and surface roughness.
ACHIEVING SPECIFIC SLIP RATINGS
Add Stellmann Non-Slip Particles to the mixed Part A and Part B by weight using a precision electronic scale and mechanical mixer:
- P3 Rating: Add 3% by weight
- P4 Rating: Add 2.5% by weight
- P5 Rating: Add 2.5% by weight
Example: You mixed 2.4kg of Stellmann Aqualin PU Pro (2kg of Part A and 0.4kg of Part B). You want to achieve a P3 slip-rating. Therefore, you multiply 0.02 x 2400 = 48. Add 48 grams of the Stellmann Non-Slip P3 Particles to the mixture.
CURING TIMES (at 20°C and 65% relative humidity, with good ventilation – typical Sydney conditions)
- Dust dry: Approximately 2 hours
- Re-coatable: 12 to 24 hours
- Trafficable: Around 24 hours
- Full cure: 3-7 days (depending on load, humidity, and temperature)
IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS & LIMITATIONS
Always read the Data Sheet, Material Safety Data Sheet, and container labels. Avoid exterior application if rain is expected or if relative humidity is above 80% or likely to exceed it shortly after application. Coverage rates can vary. Suitable for concrete substrates.
