Alka Seal serves as a penetrating non-yellowing protective sealer designed for concrete floors.

Packaging, Storage, and Shelf Life:

Packaged in 20-litre drums, Alka Seal has a shelf life of 24 months. It should be stored away from direct sunlight, naked flames, sparks, and heat, with a flash point greater than 25°C.

Instructions for Use:

Surface Preparation:

Ensure the substrate is clean, free from dust, surface water, and contaminants. Remove loose materials and laitance. Use shot blasting, high-pressure water blasting, or scabbling for larger areas, and needle gunning or bush hammering for smaller areas. The substrate should have a minimum tensile strength of 1.5 MPa. Pre-wetting is not necessary except on absorbent substrates or when intense sunlight is expected. Avoid standing water.

Consumption:

Approximately 5-10 m² per liter for open or textured surfaces, and 10-15 m² per liter for sealed or closed surfaces. Normally, apply 2 to 3 coats.

Application:

Apply with a brush or roller, with a recommended thickness of 30-40 microns per coat. Avoid ponding. It becomes tack-free in 1-2 hours, with a re-coat time of 2 to 4 hours.

Cleaning:

Clean tools immediately with water after use. Once cured, Alka Seal can only be removed mechanically.

Application Instructions:

Alka Seal can be applied by spray or roller. Apply the first and possibly the second coat at falling temperatures to prevent air bubbles and maximise penetration. Furthermore, Premature exposure to moisture may cause whitening or clouding of the finished product. And, Conduct a trial area before full application, ensuring even application and avoiding excess product on the surface. Imperfections may be visible through the thin coating.
